The task: Lay out the Kesha cover story so it showcases her as an artist, and make sure that comes across in the design.
What I did: I selected the imagery that best reflected her and designed a flexible layout for "Reflections of a Pop Phoenix." I also laid out the Incoming section using Q's existing templates. This page shows both sides of my editorial work, designing a layout from scratch, and working cleanly inside an existing system.
Decisions:
• Image selection led the design.
• I chose the pictures that captured her as an artist, then built the layout around them.
• One pull quote per spread gives readers an easy way in.
• The layout flexes to fit the story rather than forcing the story into it.
